2010-11 Highlight vid

Tony chosen as Taunton Gazette Wrestling of the Year

Tony was picked as the Taunton Gazette wrestler of the year after finishing the best individual season ever for the team. This is a huge accomplishment, being picked the best among all local schools including Taunton, Norton and BR. Tony ended his career with a 112-49 record, going 85-21 the last 2 seasons and 51-8 this season. He set season and career records in wins, pins, takedowns, escapes, reversals, and near fall points. His single season escape record of 52 and season reversal record of 46 will be incredibly difficult to beat. He was also the 1st ever to make it to the NE tournament and won 2 matches including beating the Maine state champ to make it to the quarterfinals. 

Tony chosen as league MVP

We had 4 chosen as league all-stars, a big improvement over last year when we had just 1. Derek, Kyle, Tyler, and Tony were all picked as league all-stars. Tony was chosen as the league MVP, 1st in school history.

Tony moves on to New Englands

Tony Wrestled awesome this weekend at all-states and came away with 3rd place at 195lbs making him the 1st ever New England qualifier from our school. Since he only placed 5th at Div 3 states he needed some huge upset wins in order to place and he was able to do that. He took down the Div 1 runner-up in the 1st round to make the quarter finals and then beat the Div 2 state champion to make the semis and automatically advance to new englands. After a bad semis match, he came back to beat the Div 3 runner-up to make the consolation finals where he beat the Div 2 state champ for a second time in overtime to take 3rd.
